Blackmoor Golf CLub Seniors Constitution

1.  Aims and Objectives

a) To adhere to the Aims of the Blackmoor Golf Club (BGC) and abide by the EGU Rules and Rules and Bye Laws of BGC insofar as they affect the running of the section.

b) The section is called the Blackmoor Golf Club seniors (BGCS)

c) The aim of the section is to provide an opportunity for all members to play social and competitive golf

2.  Membership

a) Membership is granted, on payment of the prescribed annual subscription, to any male member of  BGC from the year in which they reach the age of 60.

b) Members shall be eligible to enter all competitions and represent BGCS in matches organised by the Section unless prevented from doing so by the terms of their BGC membership category

3. Management

a) The management of the Section shall be delegated to an elected General Committee ( "The Seniors Committee") comprising of five Officers - Captain, Vice Captain, Secretary, Treasurer and Fixture Secretary.  The remaining committee shall consist of Immediate Past Captain and four other committee members

b) The Captain and Vice Captain shall be elected on an Annual basis and the Secretary, Tresurer, Fixtures Secretary and the other committee members will be elected for a two year period

c) The Past Captain will stand on the committe for a further year

d)  The Captain will propose the respective responsible duties of the Committee Members at the beginning of his term of office

e) Match Managers shall also be assigned for our Winter and Summer Fixtures each year by the Captain.  In principle no Match Manager shall manage a fixture with other clubs for more than 3 years.

4 Meetings

a) The Section will hold an Annual Meeting (AGM) each year before and as close to the BGC AGM.

b)  Officers and Committe Members can only be elected at a General Meeting of members however casual vacencies can be seconded by the committee.  Such seconded members if wishing to act on a permanent basis will require to be elected at the next AGM

c) The Captain shall convene committee meetings as is considered necessary to effect the smooth running of the Section

d) Any member may request and Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) to be called upon giving the secretary a 14 Day's written notice (to include the reason) providing the request is signed by at least fifteen other members

e) The Captain shall chair all meetings of the committee and the AGM or EGM.  In his absence the Vice Captain will take the Chair. 

5  Notices and Election Procedures

a) The Notice and Agenda signed by the Captain or the Secretary, of a General Meeting shall be posted on the the notice board at least 21 days before the due date of the AGM

b) Nominations for Officers and committee members shall be written on the nomination sheet appended to the Notice of Meeting and made at least 7 days before the date of the AGM

c) Each nomination must be seconded and prior agreement obtained from the nominated person of there willingness to stand for the nominated position.

d) The Captain shall recommend a Vice Captain to the Committee for their endorsement during his tenure.

e) Members may submit resolutions in writing to the Secretary for consideration at the Annual General Meeting 14 days before the date of the meeting.

f) Matters not listed on the Agenda for General Meetings may be raised and discussion with permission of the Chairman of the meeting howerer no resolutions shall be allowed for which proper notice has not been given.

g) Voting for all resolutions at an Annual or Extraordinary General Meeting shall require a simple majority of those present and voting except for changes to the constitution which requires a two thirds majority.  In the event of a tied vote the Chairman of the meeting shall have a casting vote.
